Spam and antivirus filtering at source. Unlike software products such as Norton and McAfee, which download your email and then processes them for spam or viruses, our system scans the mail before it even reaches your mailbox.
Using leading edge technology we have a success rate of around 98% for blocking spam email using 7 stages of scanning and 99% success rate for viruses by jointly using Sophos, F-Secure and Kaspersky to scan each and every email.
We also provide you with a daily breakdown via email of what spam has been sent and held in quarantine giving you the option to release individual emails if they are legitimate. We store blocked spam email for 28 days on our system. To activate this service there are no changes required at your end, we do it all for you!

Spam Filtering
Our SPAM filtering system currently filters over 98% of all spam. Every email sent through our system goes through 7 methods of filtering:
Central SPAM Monitoring System (Level 1)
Every email that passes through the spam filter has a unique
signature value created. These values are locally checked against
an internal database of current spam attacks; if a match occurs
then the email is classed as SPAM. If the value does not trigger,
then the email it is sent to a Central SPAM Monitoring System
(CSMS). The CSMS analyses data it receives and looks for similar
emails being sent in bulk over a short time frame. When such
an email is spotted further tests are performed and based on
this the system decides if the email is SPAM or a legitimate
mailer. If it is SPAM, then the value is propagated out globally
to all of the email filtering system mail relays.
Collective SPAM Reporting (Level 2)
Emails that multiple end users report as SPAM are broken down
to a signature value and dealt with as Level 1.
Open Relay Server Check (Level 3)
This filter makes use of a global black list database of know
open relay servers.
Real Time Black Lists (Level 5)
A global black list database of IP addresses of known sources
of SPAM.
Senders Address Check (VS)
A check is made to see if the senders email address is valid.
Custom Rules
‘Explicit’ SPAM filtering is implemented by means
of ‘rules’. E.g., a rule that says ‘quarantine
all mail that contains the word “HGH” in the subject’ is
an explicit declaration of a SPAM definition.
Black and White Lists
The system can be configured to block or allow email from defined
email addresses or domains.
Online Quarantine
Emails that are classified as SPAM are automatically quarantined
and kept on the system for 28 days. During this 28 day window,
the administrator(s) can login to the online portal where the
SPAM emails can be previewed and released if required. Also,
daily SPAM logs are sent to each user detailing what emails have
been held with the option to release any given one at a click
of a button.
Antivirus
Our anti-virus service scans all inbound email, ensuring that malicious code is detected and blocked.
The anti-virus service combines three leading anti-virus engines;
Sophos
F-Secure
Kaspersky
In addition, a heuristic scanning engine scans emails using advanced scanning techniques to identify new viruses and malicious code. This process guarantees 99.5% protection against viruses.
Emails are scanned simultaneously by all virus detection engines, only if all engines report virus free is the email delivered to the next scanning stage. If an email contains a virus then details are logged and the threat removed.
